Frédéric Mitterrand is a French politician. He is also an actor, screenwriter, television presenter, writer, producer, and director. He served as French Minister of Culture, from 23 June, 2009 to 16 May, 2012.
Frédéric is the son of Edith Cahier and Robert Mitterrand. He is the nephew of politician François Mitterrand (his father’s brother), who served as President of France, from 1981 to 1995.
Frédéric’s paternal grandparents were Gilbert Félix Joseph Mitterrand (the son of Gilbert Théodose Mitterrand and Pétronille Zelma Laroche) and Marie Gabrielle Yvonne Lorrain (the daughter of Jules Lorrain and Victorine Eugéne Faure).
Frédéric’s maternal grandparents were Paul Cahier (the son of Léon Amédée Cahier and M. Louise Evelina Godey De Mondésert) and Jenny Desbarats. Léon was the son of Amédée Placide Cahier and Léonie Eugénie Sophie Constance Wiart. Louise was the daughter of Charles Auguste Godey De Mondésert and Louise Caroline Orsatelli. The surname “Orsatelli” is Corsican-Italian.
